WP3 - Remote sensing based monitoring of change in land use and biomass

Remote Sensing is crucial in I-REDD+ to relate field based analyses with landscape scale or administrative level information. We are committed to provide up-to-date and historic information on land cover and land use and to homogenize these results across different sites and at different temporal and spatial scales. Ultimately, we aim at linking our mapping results with carbon estimates. This is not a trivial task in the context of I-REDD+, as the focus on mountainous areas, fine-scale changes and forest degradation adds to the challenge of data scarcity in heavily cloud-affected, tropical environments. Our goal will hence be to extend existing analysis frameworks based on state-of-the-art and multisensoral remote sensing approaches. WP3 is lead by Humboldt Universit├Ąt zu Berlin, Germany.
